Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has notified The Nigerian Stock Exchange of the appointment of Mr. Cyril Akporuere Odu as Chairman of its Board of Directors with effect from 24th November, 2015. This appointment follows the resignation of the previous Chairman, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, who was recently appointed the Nigerian Minister of Budget and National Planning.
Mr. Odu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Ibadan. He also has an MBA from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. He joined the Board of Union Bank in 2012 following the investment in the Bank by Union Global Partners Limited, a private equity consortium. He has nearly 45 years of professional and management experience. Prior to his appointment as Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Odu was the Chairman of the Bank’s Risk Management Committee. He also served on the Finance and General Purpose Committee and Credit Committee.
